Business Manager/CFO

The Situation 

Founded in 1926, The Hill School is an independent K – 8 school of 240 students located

in Middleburg, Virginia.  The 137 acre campus has seven school buildings, a natural science center, five playing fields, an arboretum and a walking trail.  The School also owns ten faculty houses within six miles of the campus.  

Over the past fifteen years, the School has completed a major campus expansion and renovation program while increasing the endowment from $1,000,000 to over $11,000,000 with an additional $ 3,000,000 in pledges payable during 2008. The 2007-08 annual budget is just under $ 6,000,000. 

The current Business Manager/CFO, who is modifying and reducing her hours and responsibilities, will remain on staff as the Associate Business Manager.

The School plans to make the Business Manager the chief operating officer for campus summer use. The business manager will apply marketing, facilities management, and financial management to promote the campus for receptions, conferences, retreats, and the like. Overseeing an increased use of the campus in the summer is very high on Hill’s priority list.

·         Oversees risk management program and the use of the campus by outside groups.

 

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting; 

Highly skilled in using accounting software, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;

Blackbaud’s Financial Edge experience is desired but not required . 

Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills - effective in working with and leading groups 

Ability to analyze financial data and create forecasts and plans 

Organized and dependable        

Most importantly, an individual of integrity with a strong work ethic who is enthusiastic  about working in a school setting
